Alongside Shelley Davies back from vacation and big tones Tony Milla, uh, big tones back from the golf course. Don't forget that. That's correct. Still on vacation. What's up, big tones, you missed us or what? I missed you, man. Uh, missed you guys and you guys got to learn when you can't go away when all the news is breaking. You're supposed to go away when like nothing's going to happen in the game and there's nothing to talk about, not when the damn national team coach announces going to stay for another four years and then we have a big discussion and everything else, but you guys do what you want. Um, but yeah, everything popped off while you were, uh, while you guys were gone. So I want to get, I want to get your opinion on this because we haven't really spoken about it all that much. Been. Yeah. We spoke about it before and then we spoke about it when it was about to happen, but it's now happened. So Jimmy was, Jimmy was in the time, same time zone. I think I've reached out to Tino, so let's, let's hear Jim. How do you feel? I, I, I listened to the show and heard tones of thoughts about it and, and I'm similar. I was a bit surprised that he came back and wanted to come back from what I understand. His head got turned tremendously based on the support and the love and all the energy he received during the World Cup and the team received during the World Cup and that was enough for him to think, Hey, maybe this is something I do want to do for the next four years. I just thought on the other side of things that he was just going to have that itch, not just him, but his whole coaching staff to kind of get back into the day to day of a club team. I feel like they were missing that and that makes sense. That's what they've known for so long. But there was something that clearly appealed to them to want to come back. Maybe the job opportunities weren't there as well. I'm not going to pretend that that's not part of the equation, but frankly, I'm a little bit surprised. Now, on the flip side, I guess, you know, as you know, I stated many, many times that I'm a one World Cup cycle guy for a coach. There is something though when I, okay, it's done now, right? He's coming back. It's something that I really appreciate about him hitting the ground running from the start of a World Cup cycle. It just feels like we've kind of haven't really maybe had that same type of momentum in the same way or doesn't feel like that. You know, I might be having a recency bias, but it doesn't feel that way. So I'm excited about that. And for him to really dive into the player pool, I don't know if he's going to say the full four years so that it obviously a different part of the conversation. But I do like that he's, he understands what we're about now. He's seen another side of the possibilities and potential. And now I feel like the decisions that he can make, especially with the Olympics and the Copa America looming in two years, that I, I'm excited about that part of it. So maybe there's a World Cup cycle in there that he'll be here for four years in total. It doesn't mean he's going to stay through 2030. And that's my silver lining. What about you, Chuck? I don't talk to you. Tom, is that playing both sides? Is it? I'm straddling the fence. Listen, I've got the lube and I'm sitting right on the fence, baby, it is feeling really comfortable right now. Maybe that was fine. Everybody. Yeah. I don't know if I've ever heard that term before, but I don't, don't, don't. It's the first time I'll call it what you want. Yeah, that's the first time we ever had that. I think when I heard it, I wasn't shocked. And I think we all know, Marcia Pogetino is in the upper echelon of coaches with his respect and some of the teams that he's coached and how well he's done in the past in the club situation. So if none of those clubs meet his threshold, then you're looking at this opportunity as, OK, well, two things can be true here. He can believe in this project. And by the way, he started this project late. And he enjoys working with the group and to your point, Jimmy, if the fans in this country finally felt that they were behind this team and any felt that support and it kind of galvanized the group. And by the way, they had played, you know, the first match of the World Cup was phenomenal, right? The whole country was kind of shocked by how well they played. So if you can get more of that, why wouldn't you continue if he wants to continue? So I think the two things that I'm talking about is he can believe in this project while also recognizing that staying in the United States might be the best professional opportunity available to him, right? So we're talking about, OK, he's going to have the massive support. He's going to have a nice salary. And he can say, hey, I got my structure now. A lot of the players that he believed in that he chose to back are still young players. So he could say, OK, now what can I do with this group? For me, if anything, the pressure and the expectations have to rise now. Because now we're talking about World Cup qualifying. Now we're talking about a coach that has to do something in Copa, America. And so with the standards rising and the expectations rising, how does he take that group? And it was the same challenge with Burr Holter. I don't think anyone thought that knockout round versus Netherlands, that Burr Holter could take them above that. Puchotino should be able to, given his credentials, take this group from what they are now and expand on it and introduce new players to it and grow it. And let's see if they can kind of surpass what they did in this World Cup. So that's going to be the challenge is, OK, he's here. Let's not even think about the future of him going XYZ. Let's think about how does he get this team better? What kind of pressure is he putting on the players? What type of pressure is he putting on himself? Because that for me is, OK, continue with Puchotino with that salary. At the very minimum now, the bar raises. Yeah, so for me, the Paraguay game is the standard. And you, he almost pulled the curtain back like, oh, Lee, this is what these guys are capable of. I need to see more of that. And obviously, the Australia game, Turkey game, different ways to solve those problems. We won one of those, lost the other one. And the Belgian game, obviously, there's a lot to unpack there. And ultimately, he got this. Don't forget the ball. The ball's in the ball's in the ball's in the game was great, by the way. Let's not sure about the ball's in the game being down a man playing, like, killing off the game, but even playing better, that, to me, was almost as impressive as the first game against Paraguay. Because now you're in a knockout round. You got real adversity being down a man and figuring out a way to get it done. That was such an impressive performance for me. So given that, yeah, they kind of showed one dominating being on the front foot against Paraguay. But then also in the same breath, they showed what England showed against Mexico being down a man and rising above it and figuring out a way to win, which they did. Okay. So let's take this and segue now, tones into kind of the next talking point we want to get into, which is Xavier Gozo, who is transferred from Real Salt Lake to Crystal Palace. Do you feel like we'll use Gozo as an example that this upcoming camp where there's four games in this window in September, October? Do you want to see a Gozo in this camp? Or are we going to kind of do a victory lap, but bring in all the other guys that were part of the World Cup team and let them kind of get a couple more reps? I'm curious where you stand on this, but let's use Gozo as an example. Then we'll get into his move in particular. We had a little bit of this discussion a week ago. Do you bring in a whole new group of guys? Because then you're kind of, you're just throwing people into the mix and now you've got to teach everybody, you bring in a couple of those guys, he's going to have no limit on his camp. It doesn't matter how many he brings into camp, I would imagine there's a sense of both of the things you just talked about. One, you want to see some new guys. And two, all of this sort of goodwill with the fans, you know, and it was a good World Cup. It was a great World Cup from the perspective that they brought so many fans to the table, right? And now you want to give them an opportunity to see these guys again. I would imagine, I'm truckling now that I say, I'm a guy like Tim Reem is going to be involved. Then maybe we'll see, this is Tim Reem's, you know, swan song and he's going to be done after this and give him his due for what he did to the national team. So there's going to be moments like that, who knows where politic is going to be with regards to injury status and all of that. So there's a, there's a decision he has to make on how he wants to play. Do you think Noah Cuyke, do you think Noah Cuyke Banks comes back into the picture tones? Well, a week ago, we had a question on here, it said, who's the one guy you want to see in camp in the first camp? And I said, no, Cuyke Banks is the guy that I want to see in camp. So my answer, Charlie, is I sure hope so, man, because we have to, we have to rebuild the backline for me. Yeah. And we got to get that part rock solid and whether it's him or whether it's somebody else eventually, and I don't know that it's this camp, but remember, you have four games. So you can kind of experiment a little bit. So yeah, I mean, there's a decision for him to make and how my guest, Jimmy, is we're going to see the majority of the World Cup team at a respect for them. And then you're going to add a couple of exciting sort of young names like, we'll go through them later, but we're going to go over a bunch of guys because now we're in the next cycle of the World Cup, right? So I think that's, that's how he's going to play it. All right. So let's get into Gozo specifically. He is set for a transfer from RSL to palace and a deal worth 15 million. That is significant and the most expensive transfer in RSL's history. He joined the RSL's Academy, give you some context in 2021. I did play with their MLS next pro team. The monarchs made his first team debut as a 16 year old in 2023. And then last season really broke out and fully established himself as a regular. And now in this season, he's actually set some good production in front of goal, six goals and five assists in 16 games this season. That's phenomenal. He's playing as a wing back, right? Um, can play as a winger as well, 19 years old, made it all start team. So, so he's now going to Crystal Palace, Chuck, who they have, they have a new coach, Oliver Glausner left, they got Pierre Sage coming in, Pierre Sage did an excellent job at lunch last year. They got second to PSG and in Liga, qualify for the Champions League, really tremendously one, the coup de France for the first time. And so really exciting, hired in some ways from what I understand. And from what the research that I did, very similar to Glausner in terms of how they set up. And he's very good with young players. So I'm excited about that. Do you like this move for Goso? And do you think it's too soon? Do you think it's the right time? Where are you on this move for him? I love the move from Goso. It's not the championship. We're talking about the Premier League, right? So for me, that's a massive distinction between going to Europe and going to the championship and going to Europe and going to a Premier League club where he will most likely get minutes. Now, I don't expect him to come in right away and be a starter. There's going to be an adjustment period. He's a young American talent and it's the demands of every day, the training, the just understanding, finding your way in Europe. And the best part about it is he has Chris Richards there, who is a senior leader in that squad. So he can take him right under his wing and that makes the world a difference. That's all the guys at Fulham when they had an American, like Brian McBride there, a case in Keller, you know, there's something there that allows you to kind of ease into the squad a lot more and have a better understanding of what you're dealing with in terms of the coaching staff and the requirements to play. So I love it and I think he's got the athleticism that's really going to help him excel and get minutes. You know, learning the, the, the, the ins and outs of the game tactically at the Premier League level. But I think this move suits him perfectly. I think he's super talented and I'm hyped. I'm hyped for the kid. Now do you think he's going to get minutes tones? I mean, that's ultimately when we're talking about young players, he found that at Salt Lake clearly thriving. So yes, it makes sense for him to want to make that step, especially as Chuck mentioned, into the Premier League, which is a very big deal. But you're going to play in Europe. He's got to get some minutes, I think, is at the balance multiple competitions. As I mentioned, they have a coach who trusts young players. He's got Victor Munoz in front of him. Who's a hell of a wingback for, for palace. Are you afraid he might not get the minutes that he needs to continue to develop at the rate that he's developing at? That's always the fear, right? But this is a club. It's, it's not like it's man city that paid 15 million. This isn't like the top 15 or 13 highest transfers they've ever paid, right, for a guy. So they clearly believe in him. Do I think, like Chuck, do I think he's going to go in and start right away? I mean, it's possible, but I wouldn't bet on that. And then you look at, you look at just kind of growing in. He's got the, he's got the athletic ability, a club like Crystal Palace there. If you know they're very physical in the way that they played, they're going to play in Europe. Remember, they beat Rio by Conno in the conference league last year, going to play in Europa League. There's a lot of competitions for them, which is, which is great for him with regards to more minutes, especially in those earlier rounds, right, where you might see him. But again, I don't think they spend 15 million on a young American player if they don't believe in him, right? And I saw this thing. I don't know if you guys saw it. There was some, I think some random fan on Twitter said, like, said, like Xavier Gozo, who the hell are we buying? And then of course they put a video out. And then, and then the guy actually, too, his credit, he responds, he's like, oh man, the guy looks pretty good, you know, like he's got some, you know, because they, they just don't know our league and they don't know, and they shouldn't, right, they've got more to concentrate. No, but a lot of, a lot of English people watch MLS, you'd be surprised. I mean, yeah, not this guy, you know, not this guy, but Jimmy in our coaching course, UEFA coaching course, a number of those guys would watch MLS, they'd stay up late to watch at least the seven o'clock games, you know, the kickoffs there, seven, seven, thirty, but, you know, the West Coast, maybe not so much, but they watch the league. So it's, it's interesting because there's a, I think a number of European fans and former players that are super interested in where MLS is because now the talent is continuing to, to grow within the league. Yeah, there's definitely a curiosity about it for sure. I sell the time. There's more people in Europe that respect the league than there are, there is in the US. I mean, you talk to European friends, you talk to scouts and you talk to, they just respected more and they, they see more in it than, than some of, but they're looking at it through a different lens, right? They're looking at it through guys like Gozo who maybe can help them and, you know, the development of the league and how many, oh, I got one for you guys. Are you more surprised that Diego didn't get a move before Xavier Gozo? No. I'm just saying in general, like, would you have, would you have thought given where Diego Luna was, let's say two years ago, right? You know, I'm talking, let's go from back to the U20s, we're the best player in the U20s team and they crash out of that tournament and then he goes on and has successful ourselves, but no moves materialize. Of course, he doesn't make the World Cup roster, even though he was kind of along, along the ride up until the World Cup, you would, you would have felt that at some point, a team would be willing to take, because we've heard whispers all the time, but now Gozo is the one that makes that big move. The short answer for me is yes, I'm, I am surprised, but I wonder what's happening behind the scenes if you think he's priced out if the numbers didn't match up or whatever, you know? I don't know. My, my short answer is no, I'm not surprised at all. I've always seen much more upside in Xavier Gozo than in Diego, that doesn't mean Diego Luna's not a, not a good player and can't find a place in Europe, but when you look at the profile of those two players and you look at, okay, where they're at right now and then where the ceiling is, like, I don't think Gozo has touched the ceiling yet. He's still growing into his body as much as we talk about his, how good he is physically, he, he's still growing into his body. Kind of like Alex Freeman a little bit in, in the way that he left for, yeah, yeah, very good, yeah, yeah, good, good, good comparison for sure. And maybe has as much upside as Alex Freeman has and, and is developing at a pace, like, you know, remember, we talked about under 20s, it wasn't, Luna didn't make the under 23s, so they didn't see something there at the Olympics, right? He doesn't make the World Cup team, so he doesn't see, they don't see, I think, I think RSL weren't going to let him go. Oh, is that what it is? Yeah, yeah, I think Luna wanted to go on RSL, because MLS clubs are, are finally saying, hey, we're not allowing our, our players to leave if they don't have to if it's not mandated by FIFA. Yeah, I mean, by the way, dynamic wingbacks, maybe, wide players, and he's, and he's a guy that he can be a winger, he can be a winger too, the way that he plays, and I just, I've always just thought, you know, from the beginning of last year that there's more of an upside to his game than a lot of players. And now there's people in Europe that think so as well. Yeah, it'd be exciting to see and wish goes all the best. I think it's going to be a fun adventure for him. And for Palace in general, moving on from Glazner, one, three trophies in a calendar year or over a 12-month period, very impressive, big shoes to fill, so we'll see how Pierre Sage does with his new talent, including hopefully go so once I get across the line. So let's play a game called Big Deal, Little Deal, No Big Whip, all right? So, so, Chuck, coming to you first on this one. U20s, are U20s qualified for the U20 World Cup. Now, the U20 World Cup is going to be hosted in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in 2027. There's only been four teams from Coca-calf qualified and 24 teams, but I think only 10 are qualified right now. Germany, Spain, Ukraine, Croatia, us, Costa Rica, Canada, Mexico, and then Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan as the hosts. The other 14 spots will be filled. The Ticos, finally. Ticos, baby. Again, some talent, some young talent in the mix. So, qualifying for the U20 World Cup. Big Deal, Little Deal, No Big Whip. What do you say? For me, it's always a big deal. Always a big deal. We're on the same day. It's an incredible experience. I was a part of the U20 qualifying team when we were for our 2005 cycle where the U20 World Cup was in the Netherlands, which is, by the way, when Messi broke on to the scene. His first introduction to the Argentine and national team, he went on to win the Golden Ball and won the tournament, but he was a 17-year-old playing in the U20 tournament and was just phenomenal. I think for us, the more players, by the way, the U17 World Cup happens, you see a number of kids drop off. And I think that's just due to puberty, different kids. You know, growth and kids coming through the different pipelines. So, late bloomers, but U20, you typically have a good sense of most of them are professionals already. And most of them, I think, will have at least a decent career in MLS. You feel it. This stage of development. But it's so massive for them to understand what it means to play against other countries in a World Cup type of setting. Because those valuable experiences allow them to continue to grow into the next level, whether it's under 23s or the full team. So, for me, it's a massive opportunity for our youngsters to test themselves against the team. Cut their teeth, baby. They got to cut their teeth under some pressure. All right. So, this one for you, tones. The U20s lose to Mexico in the final Addas Tekka 2-0. First goal. I don't know if it crossed the line. They said it crossed the line. It was, we were underneath a lot of pressure anyway throughout most of the game. Then we get a red card, very suspect red card. I don't think it was a fair red card. But again, adversity. Yeah, it's conquered, bro. It happens. I know something, Canada experienced something similar against Mexico in the semi. So, we lose to Mexico in the final here. Are you 20 tones? Big deal, little deal, no big whip. For me, it's a huge deal. Because they experience going down to us, Tekka, as you say. We're oftentimes our youth national teams. This is something that I've told you for two years. Now, the tab used to bring up with the US soccer about going to Concacaf, going to Costa Rica, going to Mexico. Not always having camp in the plush fields in the training center at that time in California. Where everything is, your laundry's done for you every day. And everything is, it's like one big cum baya, but then all of a sudden, when you get to the senior team, you go to Azteca for the first time and you don't know what to do. This is a big deal for me. Going there, first Azteca, second Mexico, yeah, of course, would love to win the game, right? Dealing with a red card, that probably wasn't a red card. Dealing with controversy with the fans, every call going against you. And I thought in the end, they handled themselves pretty good. They actually had some chances at the end of the game to go keep or clearly made a mistake on the second goal, go to slip through his hands, ends up in the back of the net, but they kept fighting and fighting. So I think it's really an important step for the young group, right? I'm glad they had the opportunity to do it. Yeah, of course, one to win the game. So I don't think I have a suggestion, dude. He's like, I, the experience is a big deal, but is the result? Losing a big deal. Yeah, look, I mean, having been and playing at the second time going to Azteca, it's always easier than the first time going to Azteca, right? Because you have a, you have an experience in these kids. So we have a difference of opinion on this. And if I were, if I were in that position, I would think of it as a great experience for that group. Yeah, we want to win the game. But bring that game to Florida and see if they win the game, right? Jim, why is Ibis having to go at tones? I just don't get that. This is trying to trigger tones right now. I mean, we should all be grateful for it. Honestly, I never, I never saw that coming. I honestly, there was like, but it's funny because tones brings up the grass. I had last week had a camp, right? So I run my camp finishing camp with the New England Revolution Academy. It was, it's our, it was our third year of doing this. It was our most successful camp. But one of the, one of the two of the days we were training on the grass, and it wasn't with the, the reps to field. So the Boston legacy and the reps to share this beautiful grass pitch where we were using for two days. But because when they came back, we couldn't use it. We had to go to the Foxboro Middle School grass field. Still nice. The kids were complaining about how long the grass was, right? So I had to, I had to stop and freeze and tell them, guys, anywhere else in the rest of the world, they would be, they would be thanking God for, for this beautiful grass that they get to play on with no rocks, with no, you know, bald spots, no dirt, that you can still play. You have a soccer ball and grass. And you guys are sitting here complaining. I said, what do you think? If you guys make it to a professional level and you have to go playing Guatemala, you have to go play in Trinidad. Do you think those fields are perfect? Like the nice turf fields that you play on every weekend here, or the grass fields that we train on for this camp the first two days? And they're all like, uh, no, I guess not. I go, no, it's up to your knees. They, they want to slow the game down. They want to make it as difficult as they can on you guys to equal out the playing field. So go out there, enjoy it. And I made a joke at the end of the camp with their parents. And they're like, they, they need to be playing on more fields like this. Because nowadays, everything is turf. So everything is perfect. And in roles, you know, maybe the turf might not be high quality. But that's, that's what we're dealing with with this generation, tones. I feel I've switching his, uh, his feeling about my, this is a good experience for the young boys. Already. I, that's, this is what you deal with. And we dealt with it for five, dealt with it for, I didn't have to deal with every day. I saw it for five and a half years with the youth teams and the arguments all the time. Well, we just built the new field over here. But that's what we're trying to get away from. We have this beautiful complex. And we have these plush fields and the great locker rooms. And yeah, but when we were younger, we went down to play, right? We had to qualify in Trinidad for the under 20 World Cup was not easy at the time. And you, you learn from those things and you don't want that was the, of course, that was the, that was the point Jimmy would have. Yeah. Don't want them going to Costa Rica, El Salvador. What about this comment? Don't they were in the senior team for the first time? I don't want that to be the first time to go. Chuck, you have to provide proper quality training environments, man. They're trying to trick your Chuck. I love you. Yeah. You're a funny type of, I love this. Chuck is already there. You love to see it. I wanted to say congrats to the U20s. I know that the final didn't go well. I agree with Utones. That experience is going to be next level for that whole group. Having to suffer at Estecca. It's only going to help all of the players grow, no matter what the result was. So, so congratulations to them for getting to the U20 World Cup. That's a big deal. And obviously, we think it's an absolutely necessary thing that has to happen. All right, last one, big deal. Little deal, no big whoop. Let's go cabin Sullivan. Let's talk about another young player, goal and an assist person that cocks on the league's cup. And getting a lot of playing time under 37-year-old interim manager for the Philadelphia Union, right? Hey, were we not pushing this forever? Just play the kids, man. Just play the kids. But it's a big deal. It's for no big whoop. Chuck, what are you saying? Big deal? This is a big deal. Um, little deal. I'm not going to go big deal. Okay, little like little deal with the potential to be a big deal down the line. Yeah, yeah. For me, it's cabin Sullivan. This Philadelphia Union team, lack creativity, they lacked quality in a lot of ways. Cabin Sullivan, I get your investment. You're kind of trying to still protect them. You know it. But let the kid play. He's ready. He's, we've seen glimpses here. Now let him play. You gave him what, two years of playing with the Bethlehem steel in the second division of MLSX Pro. Now, Cabin Sullivan is showing that he's among already the best players in that team at his age. So for me, um, he's, he's done. I think an incredible job of pushing himself and not letting, you know, the minimal playing time that he was getting in the past, uh, hold them back. And now he's showing why he should be playing. So job well done from Cabin Sullivan. Now let's see it. As he continues to progress through the youth national team, under 20s, under 23s, I think he might start to get looks with under 23s. Um, so we can talk to Stevie Toronto when, when we get him on. But there are a number of young players who have high ceilings. And I think he's still one of those, those players. Because you can never guarantee success from a 14 year old kid, no matter how talent they are, they are. I mean, Freddie, you do is the, the absolute perfect example. When they're lightning quick against 14, 15, 16, 17 year old kids. But then when you're talking about that maturity, that big jump where people grow into their bodies and then speed and the physicality becomes a big part of it, that they don't, they aren't that quick or that fast in that next phase of play. And so how do they adjust? So I think Cabin Sullivan is, is figuring that out. And he's doing a pretty damn good job. Yeah, five straight starts for Cabin after the World Cup break. So we'll see how that continues. Got 60 minutes in this game. And I think they'll manage his minutes. But as long as he continues to be productive, it's a promising start. These opponents prior to it getting announced. And I remember you feeling like you wanted to see a little bit more. And now I understand why. I mean, if we're going to play Call Me Bull in South American teams, there's obviously some bigger names that we could go and cut our teeth. Are you happy with this opposition? Do you think the quality is enough for you to see what you want to see at the start of a new World Cup cycle? Kind of knowing where we are, where we're not too close to anything of significance. But obviously, you want to continue to build the momentum that was happening over the summer with the team. I don't know anything. I just had it feeling. Yeah, here we go. Just got all the insider information. He's sending it right now. I just had an inkling that maybe this is the direction they were going for the friendly. Yeah. Anyway, an inkling is you guess two of them. Yeah. You knew four of them. Just the same. But what I would say is I would still take Chile and Peru over Honduras. Yeah, of course. That's Jamaica or Trinidad. All the same. Honduras. So for me, it's probably an opportunity as well for Puchotino to bring in some new players. So it's a good test. It's still going to be, I think, for all the teams that you're playing at this stage, new cycles, a lot of players phasing out, players phasing in, and still going to be a challenge. playing for Vio Rial it goes for everybody I can they be trusted can they get a lot of minutes and then can they do something with those minutes as ultimately the metrics that we're paying attention to and carrying about Chaco come to you Johnny Cardoso expectations what do you want to see from him this season? Just consistent playing time being a little bit better going forward we saw I think at his best with Atlete Go Madrid he covered a lot of ground he was kind of his responsibility was a lot of defending and breaking up plays but not necessarily keeping ball going forward and playing line-breaking passes being a little bit more of what we saw with Real Bitties when he was there getting forward finding good spots so for me just stay healthy stop being injured all the time and two let's let's have some more forward play taking some risks Do you think tones they just signed Morton Yulbant from sporting day Portugal for 35 million I believe Atlete did he's more of a defensive like sits as a six and I think Johnny we could argue is a little bit more of an eight but but that gives me some concern that clearly they don't trust him and he's coming off of ankle surgery we should say Johnny so we don't necessarily know when he's going to be out there running around at full speed per say but but Yulman comes in and that gives me some concern that they're obviously when you're playing for a top club it's just what's going to happen they're going to sign players multiple players and multiple positions and so it's just more competitions ultimately that's what you want that's why we want our players go to Europe so they cut their teeth and get a sharp as possible but but this gives me some concern for Johnny yeah remember Johnny you're coming off of playing in both games semifinals against Arsenal last last Champions League season I think he started in leg one we called that match I think he started with cocaine which would be I think the more of the replacement for Yulman would be coming out right okay because cocaine's been you know there forever and he's been a warrior for Cholo Simione but I think at some point they got to make a change and even if I don't know what cocaine's future looks like there but that would probably it I think Johnny's big thing is is he needs to stay healthy you said it right he needs to just stay on the field there were moments last year where he was breaking in I think two injuries but he trusted him in really important moments trusted him against Barcelona right early in the season then he gets hurt again trusted him against against Arsenal I can't remember I can't remember match day two of that the second leg of that semifinal I don't think he started but I remember him playing in that one but again he gave him really important moments I still my brain still goes to man was he on that national team was he on the roster if he didn't get hurt like I still think about it all the time but now it's his time man to break it with an animal he would have been right he does that you're inkling yeah he would have been there's a spite there's a spidey sense there it's tingling I love it I love it I love it well not only you'll not coming into the team you got Pablo Barrios who's a year younger than Johnny in the midfield that got trusted by Simionie of course Rodrigo Mendoza plays for the U21s for Spain a good prospect he's 21 Obed Vargas 21 playing all that Vargas they're talking about going out the door now remember Barrios played higher up the field so I don't know that it sex Johnny as much but Obed Vargas it looks like you know he he's going to be at a minimum loan if not moved but I think they like them there but I just think there's just it's too crowded in that point yeah yeah different options hopefully he gets healthy and gets to play all right talk about Alex Freeman as be his first full season with via Rial he joined last season got three starts played in nine total games in the league and started to get more playing time there towards the end I think what's interesting about via Rial they qualified for the Champions League which is a big deal but their coach Marcellino Marcellino he resigned due to contract dispute and now they are bringing in Enigo Perez who did wonders with Viacano last year got them to the conference league final where they lost the palace one zero they finished eighth in La Liga he comes up good higher that's a good high it's a great higher and and what I loved actually and I'll say this it's going to be hard for via Rial and any team right you got to balance multiple competitions but I thought Enigo Perez did excellent with a team that doesn't have the depth or or the budget and he still got a team to a conference league final still getting finishing eighth with with with Rial so so I do like that he's got that ability to to balance and I think Freeman's going to get a lot of minutes this particular season for for because of the multiple competitions Chuck what do you expect in what do you want to see I know that we can say the kind of the captain obvious stuff but what do you want to see in terms of his growth anything specific you want to see from Alex Freeman in different areas of his game grow this season yeah I would say when he gets forward just I'd say it's it's delivery on crosses being a little bit more accurate I think his defending was was very strong I think going forward for him is is what separates him from most right backs is anticipation his strength on the ball his strength on the dribble but I'd say just his service improving his service and then I think where he really improved over the course of the past six months like from when he signed to BRL to the World Cup was just this timing of when to get forward I think he was very eager early on got to get forward got to get forward and then he was kind of picking and choosing the right moments and his decision making got incrementally better with each performance with the national team so just just being consistent and I'd say his final pass all right now I'm with you on that and and yeah what a player and obviously the confidence is going to get him having a stellar a world cup was going to go a long way and and yeah I'm curious to see how how he does and thrives under an ego Perez who again I agree with you Jack I thought it's a great hire and I'm excited to see how the yellow submarine does in general all right tones up throw this to you because we're going to talk about someone from the great state of New Jersey that I get that right a fellow green a moderate so now he has coming into his first season in charge won the cup of Del Rey last year he took over for La Rial at December 20th of 2025 and and once they won the cup of Del Rey I thought their form dropped off a little bit makes total sense to me that emotional let down after after winning the Bayley one we got a trophy when yeah we're we're cooking can ask for much more yeah 26 games in charge 10 wins 10 draw six losses overall but but want a trophy finished ended up finishing in 10th in La Liga what do you want to see from him I assume he's got ambitions to crack into the same the top six but but yeah the same form because I think that's the hardest thing for a manager right when in his position is maintaining you come in new ideas you win early you win a cup game you're competing with the Barcelona's you know in in games and all of a sudden there's a different energy can you match that energy right now can you can you stay I think that's if so 10th so you lost six matches in 26 games right in all competitions say they have 52 matches if he has this record next year where you lose 12 matches in 52 games you're basically doubling the number of games and everything I think you're pretty happy with it right I think that but now managing European competition compared to we always talk about this right so I haven't looked at their their sales and and incomes and outgoing this summer but I think one early in the season they
